The Story

I’m a plant based dietitian, prenatal nutrition expert, and reiki energy healer. As a registered dietitian, I provide holistic nutrition support for vegan pregnancies.

My drive to start Remedy by Delilah was born out of a desire to highlight the connection between nutrition and energy healing.

I got my college degree and completed my 1600 hour clinical training just like every RD out there. However, I quickly became disenchanted with the conventional, clinical approach to nutrition and overall health because it’s very narrowly focused and it doesn’t take into account the whole person.

On the outside everything looked picture perfect, but on the inside my work was so unfulfilling but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. And then reiki entered my life.

I truly believe that physical health and spiritual health are inseparable from one another. Whatever is going on with you at the energetic level will undoubtedly manifest itself at the physical level either in the form of good health or disease.

Energetic imbalances can often manifest at the physical level in the form of mental illness, food addiction, chronic pain, headaches, digestive issues, or body dysmorphia.

What many people don’t realize is that a major component of nutrition is behavior change. Behavior change has nothing to do with the foods you eat, it’s all about habits and mindset.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Energetic imbalances are at the root of your habits and mindset. You can read all the books about healthy eating, but if the root of your habits and mindset aren’t addressed at the energetic level, then you will undoubtedly continue to end up back at square one.

As a holistic dietitian, I support the whole you by addressing both your physical and energetic needs. This is the ticket to food freedom. This is the gateway to a healthy whole entire you.

The Background

I am a first generational Ugandan American, and I’m a queer femme. I believe that having an open minded, and inclusive outlook on life is essential. Celebrating and embracing the diversity in the world we live in is important to me.

When I was going through my nutrition studies I quickly noticed that there was an underrepresentation of people who look like me (ie: people of color in general, but Black people in particular). Additionally, many of the chronic diseases (ex: type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure) disproportionately affect people of color; the very same people whom we as nutrition professionals set out to help.

My (virtual) practice doors are wide open to welcome in Black, Indigenous, people of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals. We’re marginalized, underrepresented in the nutrition profession, and over represented in the afflicted population. It’s important for me to run a practice that is both affirming and empowering for us.
